Set up a system that helps you remember to connect with God.
You're on a three-day streak of connecting with God!
How can you celebrate? Here's what I do: - Smile - Pump both my hands in the air - Shout out, "Thank you, Lord!" (but only if I'm by myself)
Maybe you're wondering: Why are we celebrating again? Think about it:
Jesus teaches us, "Thriving are the poor in spirit, for the kingdom of heaven is theirs" (Matthew 5:3).
James promises, "Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you" (James 4:8).
When we connect with God, we are thriving, experiencing life to the full, and responding to God's love. I'm not saying our circumstances are perfect. I'm saying that when we rely on God, we are strengthened to handle our challenges with love, wisdom, and goodness.
**God is at work in your life, and he is celebrating your growth!**
So, if God is celebrating your desire to be with him, then you can celebrate, too!
And check it out: now you've had three straight days of reading a Bible verse!
Today, we're going to solve one of the biggest problems for having a daily devotion:
**We forget about it.**
Why? Because we're busy, stressed, distracted, and exhausted. It's not easy.
I remember when I was a new parent, sometimes I'd realize it had been a few days since I'd read the Bible. I'd only slept for a few hours at a time - for months. I had a long list of responsibilities at work. And when I had a few moments to myself, it was too easy to start scrolling through social media. So, some days, by the time I thought about the Bible, I was already falling asleep.
But why are you connecting with God each day right now?
It's simple: because you're going through this course, you're reading the Bible every day.
So, as long as you can open and read these lessons, you will connect with God each day.
It's that easy.
In other words, you've already seen that it works.
**If you set a daily reminder to be with God, then you can connect with him.**
So, right now, decide what your daily reminder to be with God looks like.
There are hundreds of possibilities. All you have to do is pick an automatic way that will remind you to be with God every day.
Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
What time of day would work best for your daily devotion? Morning, midday, or evening?
What is one simple reminder you could set up to help you remember?
How does it encourage you that God draws near to you when you draw near to him?
Choose one method to remind yourself to connect with God daily. Set it up right now - an alarm, a sticky note, or a Bible in a strategic location.
You're on a three-day streak! Take a moment to thank God for drawing near to you as you draw near to him.
